Vision Aid Overseas is appealing to opticians to provide children's frames and spherical lenses for its latest project in Ethiopia.
VAO is supporting overseas partner Orbis Ethiopia in a large scale screening and refracting programme within Ethiopian schools.
Nurses and technicians employed by the workshop created by the charity in Butajira have been trained to help thousands of children with poor vision.
'We are looking to build up trust in the efficiency of the nurses who have been trained by VAO to demonstrate the massive impact eye care can have on the education and livelihoods of children,' said VAO's country leader Michele de Vaal.
'It is also hoped that young people who have been supplied with spectacles will encourage their families to have their eyes examined when a VAO clinic visits their region.'
