Optometrist Frank Eperjesi has extolled the virtues of volunteering at Vision Care for Homeless People’s (VCHP) Birmingham clinic.
Eperjesi said: ‘For me, working at the VCHP clinics is the purest form of optometry. I don’t have to sell anything or upgrade anyone, just care for them. I really enjoy the impact that my time and effort have. People are so grateful and I feel that we are improving the lives of the people we are seeing.’
He said many of the patients he sees have suffered hard times and he is able to support them by using the same equipment he would in a regular practice.
