Village Optician celebrates 21st anniversary

Optometrists Michael Peart and Stephen Peart

Durham-based independent, Village Optician, reflected on its 21st anniversary celebrations in 2024 by thanking its patients for their ongoing support.

Reflecting on the practice’s 21 years, optometrist Michael Peart said it has grown from a single site to four and highlighted how it had evolved.

‘Back then, we followed the usual ideas of what an optician should look like, what we should sell, and so on. Our own personal eyewear journeys have helped us evolve into what we are today,’ Peart said.

Over time, Peart realised the practice did not have to follow the same rules as other opticians in the frames it stocked, what staff wore in practice and how they communicated with patients.

‘These changes have made a big difference to how our staff and clients feel about their own eyewear and style,’ Peart said.

Among these changes was a switch from stocking branded frames to independent companies that were exclusive to the practice and made patients feel good about their eyewear.
