Vision Direct was due to plead guilty on all charges at a legal hearing to consider a General Optical Council prosecution over alleged contact lens sales without supervision at Hendon Magistrates Court on Wednesday (September 3) after Optician went to press.

Vision Direct UK faced six summonses under Section 27 of the Opticians Act between May 3 and 18, 2007. The Council had alleged that it sold contact lenses without checking specification and without the supervision of an optometrist or a doctor.

However, as Optician went to press, (Tuesday), a court clerk at Hendon Magistrates Court confirmed that Vision Direct informed the court of its intention to plead guilty at the scheduled hearing.
