A free eye test offer by Vision Express across its 390 stores during last month’s National Eye Health Week resulted in ‘an unprecedented surge’ in bookings in the face of industry misgivings.
The multiple said its online bookings during the September 21-27 campaign were double its average weekly number, on the back of offering free eye tests via an online voucher until October 5.
A team from Vision Express also toured the UK with a commissioned Vision Van, which saw 14 per cent of patients tested referred to a GP.
Of those who had a free eye exam on the van, 18 per cent had never had an eye test and 14 per cent had not had one in more than ten years.
