Vision Express has led calls for drivers to undergo regular eye tests following new research from the International Glaucoma Association (IGA) which showed that 18 per cent of over 45s have not had an eye test in the last five years or not had one at all.
The IGA commissioned the survey to coincide with National Glaucoma Awareness Week (June 8-14). This year’s campaign, “Can You See to Drive?”, has encouraged people to have regular eye health checks to ensure that they are safe to drive. Particularly important with glaucoma as it has no symptoms in the early stages – something only 24 per cent of the 1000 over 45s surveyed knew.
