Vision Express rolls out menopause training

Vision Express has said it will become the first high street optician to train all clinical staff as menopause eye health advisors.

Announced to coincide with National Eye Health Week, the training will be piloted in 30 select practices starting from November 2024 with an intent to roll out across all Vision Express practices in 2025.

Research by Vision Express found that more than a quarter (28%) of British women over 45 didn’t think healthcare professionals understood menopause symptoms fully, with 41% putting off a doctor visit despite wanting support.

Over a third of women over 45 were unaware that blurred vision (38%) and dry eye syndrome (37%) can be symptoms of menopause. In response to this, Vision Express has partnered with Lisa Snowdon to spread awareness of the changes to eye health during menopause.
