Registered charity Mission for Vision will be embarking on its fifth trip to Africa in October and is seeking optometrists and dispensing opticians to travel to Kitgum, Uganda's poorest region. From October 29 to November 11, the team will work with the church community to provide eye care to the area.
Dispensing optician Ian Squire from Shepperton, Middlesex said that on each previous trip the charity was able to make 'a significant difference to the lives of thousands of individuals and benefit whole communities'. He said that during six days of clinics over 1,000 glasses were dispensed to patients of all age groups. 'It is just wonderful to see the instant benefits given to those who have been struggling with deficient vision,' he said.
