Hundreds of new patients have been supported during the first year of the Wales Vision Strategy Implementation Plan 2014-18.

Key achievements were highlighted during a reception at the Sened this week.

The Welsh Government Eye Health Care Delivery Plan, announced last month, would see the Wales Council of the Blind build a portal to help blind and partially sighted people find out about all the services available to them, the sector was told.

Meanwhile, an Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) Service had supported 4,000 patients across Wales, with a study highlighting that for every £1 investment in the ECLO service, there was a net return of £10.57 to health and social care budgets.
