A team of global and regional ambassadors has been appointed to raise awareness of the World Council of Optometry’s (WCO) Standard of Care for myopia management.

The WCO myopia management Standard of Care resolution, developed in partnership with CooperVision and introduced in April 2021, included three main pillars: mitigation, measurement, and management.

Dr Sandra Block, president of WCO, said: ‘With cases of myopia soaring among children, there is an urgent need to adopt myopia management as a standard of care on a global scale. It is an important cause to each of our ambassadors, and I’m thrilled to collaborate with them to expand awareness around the world.’

The ambassadors included Aston university professor Nicola Logan; lecturer and researcher Síofra Harrington at Dublin’s Technological University; Jagrut Lallu, partner at Rose Optometry in Hamilton, New Zealand; and Texas-based Bellaire Family Eye Care partner, Ashley Wallace Tucker.
