varifocalOnline retailer Glasses2you has launched a varifocal service which it claims removes the need for specialist measurements and greatly reduces the cost for customers.

The online retailer says this is possible by the use of an interactive 'virtual mirror' which can accurately identify distances.

'Customers upload their photo and can then choose the right frame to suit by trying it against our virtual mirror,' explained founder Russell Andrew. 'Once a photo is uploaded and a pair of frames chosen, the virtual mirror can identify the relevant measurements required for the purchase of accurate varifocals.'

Andrew added that the customer can also choose to receive a trial frame and then send back a photograph so that the necessary measurements can be made.
