Welcome for Quality toolkit

A warm welcome has been given to the latest version of the interactive toolkit Quality in Optometry (QiO), which was launched at the weekend.

The toolkit (www.qualityinoptometry.co.uk) is designed to aid clinical governance for optometrists offering GOS. John Hearnshaw, special primary care commission adviser for eye care services at NHS Primary Care Commissioning (PCC), said the site made it easier for optical contractors to prove to their PCT that they were operating sound clinical governance and could help contractors secure enhanced services.

The 2010 update includes revised levels dealing with funded clinical governance, enhanced services and infection control. The record-keeping audit has also been developed further as an online tool.
