Observatory the Opticians was invited to the House of Commons for the finals of the national Best Small Shops Competition last week.
The independent practice, led by managing director Jonathan Foreman, finished behind high end grocer Hunters of Helmsley in the competition run by the All Party Parliamentary Small Shops Group.
Foreman, pictured with Julia Thurston, an optical assistant from the Beccles practice, said: ‘What a high standard Hunters of Helmsley set. All about community, experience and the team. Exactly what we opticians must aspire to. I think we are on the way, and they have inspired us further.’
