A dispensing optician has been invited back to his former school as guest speaker for its Sixth Form Science Awards Evening.
Jonathan Foreman (pictured right), managing director of the Observatory optical group, addressed science students from the Thomas Gainsborough School.
Foreman attended the school more than 30 years ago when it was called Great Cornard Upper School and is now celebrating his 25th year in business. Observatory in Beccles won Independent Practice of the Year at this year’s Optician Awards.
He said: ‘I spoke about how being an optician is a science-based profession and how by using scientific processes in everyday life can result in major beneficial outcomes. If you use scientific processes with creativity and imagination you can create something people like and want, in successful business and in life.’
The award, including a trophy, certificate and £100 worth of vouchers, was won by student Dan Young (left).
