Which CET article will get your vote?

For the very first time this year the optician Eye Care Awards feature a category that will reward the author who has made the greatest contribution to continuing education and training.

This category is sponsored by Dollond & Aitchison and is designed to reward the author of the most popular CET article as decided by a poll of optician readers. Continuing education and training participation among optician readers is very high - in excess of 1,000 readers took part in some of the modules. However, we are asking our readers to let us know which articles they found the most informative. To do this simply jot down on a postcard or in an email the title of the article you feel represented the best in CET. During 2000 optician ran a number of series which included: Silicone hydrogels, Contact lens problem-solving, Binocular vision, Investigative techniques and Basic contact lens practice. A full listing of all of the articles carried during 2000 was published on page 16 of our December 1 2000 issue. Just as a reminder, here is a flavour of some of the CET articles carried by optician for which you can vote. In the Silicone hydrogels series part 4 adverse events and infections were covered; Contact lens problem-solving looked at Aspheric RGPs in part 6, Progressive power lenses in part 8 and Orthokeratology in part 10. Binocular vision figured prominently during the year with subjects such as Decompensated exophoria in part 13, Diplopia in part 14, Nystagmus in part 15 and Orthoptics in part 16. Investigative techniques covered issues ranging from Assessment of the anterior chamber in part 8 and Assessment of fundus in part 10 to Colorimetry in part 11. Basic contact lens practice started life as a continuing education feature on our website, www.optometryonline.net. From part 7, Soft toric CL fitting, modules also appeared in optician. This series went on to cover topics such as Managing the presbyope in part 8 and Contact lens aftercare in part 9.
