Independent optical practices have topped a customer satisfaction study by Which? but were closely trailed by the eye care services of wholesaler Costco.
Costco scored 86 per cent in the research, just 2 per cent behind the overall rating of independents.
Which? found Asda Opticians was the top performing multiple with a 77 per cent customer score, compared to 65 per cent for Tesco.
Specsavers scored 72 per cent in the research, which surveyed 5,409 Which? members in March this year. Optical Express was given the worst customer score with 59 per cent.
Which? editor Richard Headland said: ‘Not all optician stores are the same and we found big differences between them. We were surprised to see that some of the big high street chains didn’t fare as well as other retailers, like Costco, who aren’t famous for selling glasses.’
