Student optometrist Mariyah Mahmood was awarded the Optician Prize for Best Dissertation at the City University London School of Health Sciences annual prize giving.
Final year student Mahmood was handed the prize by professor Chris Hull, head of department at the university.
The winning dissertation looked at the blood-retinal barrier and how it can be influenced by certain drugs.
