Optometrist Zahra Jessa was sponsored by a Wiseman Memorial Fund donation to attend the 10th International Conference on Low Vision in Kuala Lumpur in order to deliver her PhD research paper on 'Improving the quality of life in older people' at the event.
She stated that gaining a deeper insight into how to deal with patients with low vision and receiving feedback on her own research was very valuable.
'The Wiseman bursary really helped towards my trip and it was very valuable to attend such a well respected conference for the exchange of knowledge in this increasingly important field of optics,' she said.
