Wooden eyewear has enjoyed a surge of popularity of late, but adjustment is still a concern for many opticians. Italian eyewear manufacturer Woodone has developed a new bonding treatment to increase the adjustability of its frames. A specially developed glue is now applied between each of the eight layers used in the frame. When heated, the new bonding allows for adjustment of the frame and temples. To adjust for fit, frames have to be heated to 150° for around 20-30 seconds until the wood becomes flexible and soft. Temples or fronts can then be carefully adjusted following the grain and once this process is complete, the frame is cooled under tap water. The handmade Woodone frames still feature non-toxic EC-certified transparent varnish and screwless flex hinges. ? DETAILS: www.woodone.it
