Zeiss updates tablet app

Carl Zeiss Vision has updated its Apple iPad dispensing tool, iDemo.

The update has introduced augmented reality functionality which allows patients to see how the lens design and treatment will affect their vision in their current surroundings, using the iPad camera.

The new feature is applicable to the manufacturer’s progressive lens designs, tint colours and self-tinting technology.

‘This enables patients to gain a better understanding of the options available and better understanding means added value sales,’ said a manufacturer spokesperson.

A lens coating demonstration tool has also been included in the update. The tool shows the effects of scratching a lens, with and without a coating, by rubbing a finger across the iPad’s screen.
