A week of news - DVLA puts brakes on LOCSU bid

Efforts by LOCSU to co-ordinate a cross-sector bid for driver vision testing appear to have failed.

The unit is taking it all the way though, and has been granted an extended standstill period to appeal its bid.

If the might of Specsavers cannot be matched does this mean a single multiple has overtaken the reach and capabilities of the rest of the industry?

Apparently not, because 2,000 independents and multiples were waiting in the wings for LOCSU's bid. This is more than double the total number of Specsavers stores in the UK so it seems Specsavers has outmanoeuvred rather than outmuscled its rivals.
