A week of specs and eye issues in the national media

Its's always interesting to see what the national newspapers are interested in when it comes to eyewear and eye care and also where you find those references

The Sunday Times had a delightful interview with famous gallic foodie, Raymond Blanc.  We learned that Blanc had been in the UK for many years having found himself out of work in his native France. His early cheffing hadn't gone to well. The low point was being hit in the face with a frying pan for criticising his boss' seasoning. Don't laugh, it broke his jaw. We also learn that he has also lost 30 pairs of spectacles as he's so forgetful.

The Daily Mail decided to go right for the photo opp when Susanna Reid suffered from an eye condition that prevented her from wearing her contact lenses.

In a festival of pictures designed to delight 'men of a certain age' she larks about pulling faces and acting the sexy secretary. Personally I was outraged...... by the lack of an AR coating on those lenses.

In a story designed to make you lose faith in human kind the Daily Telegraph told the story of blind darts player Robert Boon. The Paignton player was dobbed into the authorities after taking part in a darts marathon to help raise money to fund guide dogs for the blind. A member of the public decided anyone who can play darts that well couldn't possibly be blind so reported Boon to the Department for Work and Pensions. In typical West Country style he took it all in good heart. Obviously the squealer was a lousy darts player who happened to be in the region on holiday.
