The entry of i-GO into the UK orthokeratology market has got me all excited again about OrhtoK and the prospect of putting my glasses to one side.
Last year I stopped using Ortho K to give myself a chance to try out some contact lenses and new specs and I must say I have been really impressed by the quality of vision. The first few week mad eme realise the crispness you get from specs, especially at night.
The vision gold standard for me is my cycle home in the dark. Contact lenses have never been ideal for this as they dry out . On cold descents your eyes will water if you are not wearing a good wrapped frame so ordinary specs are a no no. The occassional bit of flying debris also makes you realise that having some protection for the eyes at speed is a good idea.
This winter I have been wearing the rudy project Drivewear combination glazed as Shamir Smart Attitude (above) which has been brilliant.Last night I decided to get back into OrthoK.
By mid-afternoon my eyesight is already losing a little sharpness so it may be a slow cycle home!
