I had a cancelled meeting today. Cancellation used to be a source of disappointment, these days it's a treat.
I travelled to London so often last week I felt like a commuter. Had a great day in Bath on Wednesday, talking optical politics in a coffee shop with a real enthusiast for the profession, meetings in London followed, off to Hungary next week back and then straight off to Nottingham and then down to the South Coast. It's non stop, a cancellation was just what the doctor ordered.
One of the most common comments made to me as Editor of Optician is " how do you find enough to write about every week?" Needless to say finding enough to write about is not a problem but juggling all of the various elements of a modern publishing operation is testing to say the least.
The Autumn is always a busy time as everyone makes the most of the active phase between summer and Christmas. See the above. It's also the time that the Optician Awards are launched so it's a busy time editorially. This year Optician has also been working with the FMO on Optrafair London which takes place at Olympia next April 11-13. Our website is also undergoing a transformation which will see a whole new platform and the introduction of password protected content, something I think subscribers will be very pleased about.
While Tweeting recently and looking at my LinkedIn messages and Facebook it suddenly occured to me that I hadn't blogged for ages, hence this post. I'll try not to be so remiss in future.
