As a cyclist I take a keen interest in anything that happens to be lying in the road.
Over the years this has changed. I see fewer squashed animals, hedgehohgs are a real rarity, but in the interests of not being thrown off the bike or wrecking a beloved frame ( thanks Epsom Council) it's worth keeping your eyes peeled.
The usual things are holes ( if holes lie), debris, tools, workmen's gloves and more recently pairs of squashed glasses.
Over the last few days I have seen quite a few pairs left squashed, sadly lying in the road, their lenses shattered and their temples distorted. Is this because eyewear has become more affordable? Perhaps people have more pairs and are less careful with them? My random survey will continue.
