Diversity of salaries has long been a feature of optics and the further you travel from the educational epicentres the higher the pay grades tend to get.
Analysis this week of Hunter Human Capital’s salary surveys from the last two years shows that an optometrist in East Anglia may command an £8,000 salary premium over similar professionals in other parts of the country. That’s a cool 16 per cent.
It’s a counter-intuitive fact that in areas such as the South West, East Anglia and the North East where houses are cheaper, the air cleaner and the quality of life better, you can earn more for the same role.
