Chris Bennett: Head and heart battle it out over Brexit

Last week in London a hush-hush meeting of top independent practitioners voted on whether the UK would be better in, or out, of the European Union.

This wasn’t an optical papal conclave, meeting to make a choice for eye care, so sadly those waiting for the white smoke will be disappointed. The voting cards were held aloft for fun at a product launch but the exercise took on a strange air of significance as delegates craned their necks to see how competitors and colleagues were voting.

Given the vacuum of facts around the EU debate it’s natural that people are looking to the wisdom of the crowd for guidance. Optician has also been asking those in optics their opinion (In Focus) to shed a little light on the subject.
