Welcome to this digital issue of Optician and to a glimpse into some of the ways technology now allows information to be distributed.

Optician is no stranger to technology. Way back in the late 1990s it set up its original website and, for a while, became an internet service provider. Since then our website has gone through various redesigns and renamings while at the same time getting involved in CD based CET, podcasts, webinars, face to face events, Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest and LinkedIn. Over that time mobile telephones have become pocket computers, laptops have become ever smaller, tablets have become the home computer for many, TV internet has failed to take a hold while broadband access has become an anywhere utility.
