In a week where, elsewhere, degree places were being offered to students with as little as two Es and Russell Group universities had an unprecedented number of places to offer through clearing, optometry continued to have its pick of the bunch.
A degree course place in optometry has for a long time been a sought after prize for many students. Universities have been able to select students with excellent grades to fill handsomely oversubscribed courses. Optometry has become a first choice; the days of optometry as the last resort of the failed medic are over.
