What is going on at the GOC? After years of grey predictability the profession's regulator has started serving up surprises. By the time you read this, the General Optical Council looks likely to have agreed that the next cycle of CET will look pretty much like the one we are currently in.

What is going on at the GOC? After years of grey predictability the profession's regulator has started serving up surprises. By the time you read this, the General Optical Council looks likely to have agreed that the next cycle of CET will look pretty much like the one we are currently in.
This will come as a surprise to both collectors and providers of points. It was widely expected that more onerous conditions would be created governing the rules on the collection of CET credits.
But the feedback the GOC received from the profession indicated the opposite and prompted a resounding cry for the system to be left as it is. Despite the calls from educational purists for tighter guidelines on the way points are gathered and the subjects studied, the GOC has stood firm. If the profession says the GOC has got the framework right at the first attempt, so it will remain.
