Comment: Get on the bus for Optrafair

Optician's decision to go into partnership with the Federation of Manufacturing Opticians to bring Optrafair to London (news 05.04.13) will make the coming big weekend for optics even more momentous this year.

London has become a global centre for the creative community and Optrafair London - brought to you by the FMO and Optician - will provide optics with a window on that exciting stage. Hosting a fashion-led show in a destination increasing numbers of overseas visitors are clamouring to visit is a winning combination Optician is proud to be part of. Optrafair London will also up the pace of optics.

Tomorrow (13.04.13) sees the start of Optrafair Birmingham the three-day, biennial show which has provided the pace for optics since the early 1980s. Since then the show has grown to be a rallying point for the business. This weekend will see the Association of British Dispensing Opticians and the Federation of Ophthalmic and Dispensing Opticians hosting events. The General Optical Council and the College of Optometrists will be answering questions and Saturday night will see the presentation of the Optician Awards in front of a 600-strong audience of optical folk.
