Encouraging practices to enter the Optician Awards is a truly frustrating process. But this time we have made some changes which make entering the Awards as simple as can be.
Each year the Optician Awards are launched and entries come in. After the judging and a fabulous presentation ceremony the entrants often say to me: 'I wish I had entered the Awards before' or 'I never thought I could win', or 'I'll definitely be entering again next year.'
Most of those who have taken part feel it was worthwhile, those on the shortlists are happy and the winners are ecstatic but they all have one thing in common. They implore Optician to spread the word so more practices enter to make the Awards as true a reflection as possible of the state of the profession and market.
In response to those pleas, this year entrants simply have to write a statement of between 500 and 1,000 words. Optician will then invite fuller entries from a selected shortlist.
Optician has hosted its Awards over the years to highlight and reward excellence within optics. We know how powerful winning an Optician Award is for a practice and its personnel and the changes we have made are designed to make the Awards as inclusive as possible.
