In years gone by people in optics ran and owned their own businesses Optrafair offered a biennial opportunity to meet up with old friends, find out about new products and pick up on new ideas. A traditional community event to which junior staff aspired.
The optical model has now changed. Many more are employed by large organisations and corporates. Many of those who once owned and ran their business are now part of a management team or more lowly employees. Many in industry work for world class employers with thousands of staff.
