CrossEyes goes for Danish Destock approach

A Danish eyewear company has introduced a unique business model to UK optics by taking orders on an individual basis rather than stocking frames.

Featured in this week’s news, CrossEyes aims to have 15 practices on British soil by the end of 2015 – certainly making it one to watch.

What really stands out about its model is the avoidance of keeping stock, something that co-founder and owner Søren Møller believes is ‘really killing retailers at the moment’.

Instead, frames are prepared in Hong Kong after an order is placed and shipped to practices in 7-10 days.

Making this a viable solution for an optical practice of course relies heavily on strong relationships in the supply chain, something CrossEyes has by virtue of its own brand. Whether the UK consumer has the patience to wait this long for a pair of spectacles is another burning issue.
