Diary of a Spectacle Designer: Virtues of WCSM

Tom Davies extols the virtues of the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers and gets excited by sheep

For most of my career I resisted joining the Worshipful Company of Spectacle Makers (WCSM). I’m not exactly sure why, because I believe in the value of great networking and I believe in charity. Therefore, an organisation whose main goal is better vision for all and reducing the burden that avoidable blindness has on the individual, as well as society, is right up my street. 

It was a chap called Peter Reeve, senior court assistant at WCSM in addition to his day job running Stepper Eyewear, who came up to me at a tradeshow in New York and convinced me to join up. If the organisation is half as energetic and enthusiastic as this chap, I thought, why am I not a member?
