DPI line is pixel perfect!

Simon Jones

It takes something out of the ordinary for the Optician products desk to get excited about a new frame collection, but the DPI line from Dzmitry Samal was just that. Inspired by 8-bit graphics of video games from the 1980s, frames in the new collection have done away with notions of gentle curves and swept brows, opting instead for retro shapes with pixelated corners and bold styling.

The frames, all crafted from acetate in France, feature an internal rim which allows them to be fitted with either sunglass or ophthalmic lenses. Four styles comprise the collection, 5DPI, 6DPI, 7DPI and 4DPI which is a dedicated sunglass style. The 6DPI frame features a rectangular shaped silhouette with pixelated corners. The highlights of the frame are the cut-away nose bridge and stepped end tips. Nine colour schemes are available. The 5DPI frame has more of a square profile with pronounced flat brows, while the 7DPI (1) has a small silhouette with dropped nose bridge and temples. The 4DPI (2) sunglass has a one-piece front and colour matched temples which show the frame's internal wires.
