Google Project Glass - augmented reality glasses

A few weeks ago, Optician carried a news story on Google’s augmented reality glasses project. Google wouldn’t comment on the existence the glasses at the time, but details have just been released on Project Glass.

‘We started Project Glass to build this kind of technology, one that helps you explore and share your world, putting you back in the moment. We think technology should work for you—to be there when you need it and get out of your way when you don’t,’ said a Google statement.

The eyewear is rumoured to use Google’s Android mobile software and is shown in the video using the Google+ social networking platform. 3G or 4G (where available) connections, motion sensors and GPS are also believed to be included.
