Independents taking the limelight

August is supposed to be the silly season but you would never know it. After a short summer break my first news day back saw plenty of news with the biggest focus on the independent sector.

Research from the US also shows that customer are looking to link their eye care and their eyewear purchases.  Clearly practices need to engage customers and not just make them price-based offers.

Similarly the industry is keen to work more closely with the profession. There are some very radical offers on the horizon, watch Optician for details. Also interesting to note that, in a keynote interview with Optician, J&J's general manager  sees his relationship with practices as key to growing the sector.
