Jill Archer has cataracts

Fans of The Archers were finally released from their misery yesterday as it was revealed that Jill Archer has indeed got cataracts.

It will be interesting to see how this story is handled. Her daughter, Shula's, first reaction was very matter of fact but that may have been to satisfy the needs of another storyline.

Jill is clearly worried about what is going to happen and the effect it is likely to have on her. Luckily she has a strong support network, Shula drove her to the optician ( unspecified) and stopped at the door! A luxury afforded to few elderly people.

This is a really good opportunity to handle an issue which affects lots of elderly people.
