Jill Archer off to see the optician shocker

It's always nice when a prediction comes true.

A few weeks ago I noticed a storyline in the long-running BBC radio series, The Archers, which was clearly going to end up as a visual impairment in an elderly person kind of thing. The woman is question is Archers matriarch, Jill.

After frightening the life out of various characters while driving the script writers decided to have her run down her own grandson on his bike. Far fetched and heavy- handed I know but that's how they roll at the BBC these days.

Mrs Optician Editor can now accuse me of being boring, not just for listening to The Archers, but also now for trying to guess what condiction Jill is going to be suffering from. Cataract, AMD, just advancing presbyopia? -surely not.
