After a lengthy career in optometry I have now realised that my refractive routine must have been sadly lacking throughout. I note that according to a television advertisement, a large multiple chain of opticians has 100 different ways to test a person’s eyes.
These advertisements initially claimed that this company ‘has’ 100 different ways to do an eye test. It has since been modified in that a patient who is featured behind a phoropter head says that he ‘wants’ a firm that can do an eye test in 100 different ways. Slightly different wording, but the implication is nevertheless the same. My thoughts are that this advertisement which appears quite regularly can appear to be quite impressive to the uninitiated, which is of course what it is supposed to be, or to those who have already visited an optometrist, somewhat dubious.
