Here we go again. In common with every practice in the country we have just received the latest mailing from a large contact lens firm, who for the sake of decency, I shall not name. It has a triple A4-sized fold over glossy card, additional bumf, wodge of patient leaflets, plus an interesting if bizarre and possibly not wholly practical pen, needing only an elastic band to give it a second career as a catapult. The chunk of cardboard containing it approached 0.25kg in weight alone.
Is this supposed to impress somebody? If so, who? Does this company seriously expect contact lens professionals to alter their prescribing because of the sheer size/weight of the information sheet? Or do they think that practice contact lens procurement policy is decided by some sort of bubble-head who would be impressed by the size and glossiness of the material, or perhaps needs to have everything printed big because they haven't got the brains to cope with anything printed too small?
