I am responding to Gary Andrasko’s letter (May 11).As readers would expect, Sauflon has conducted clinical studies to demonstrate the excellent compatibility of our preservative-free multipurpose solution Synergi with the currently available silicone hydrogel lenses.
I have been aware of Mr Andrasko’s ‘staining grid’ research for some time and have not been surprised by his findings that undoubtedly preservative-free care systems perform better than the polyquad and polyhexanide preservative based multipurpose solutions when tested with all silicone hydrogel lenses.
While we understand that as Mr Andrasko states he cannot test all solutions, like Mr Black (letter, March 30) we are surprised that he did not test solutions from the UK’s market leader and producers of Synergi the world’s first multipurpose solution formulated especially for silicone hydrogel lenses. I am pleased to see that Mr Andrasko’s intent is to provide practitioners with useful, complete and unbiased information concerning lens/solution compatibility.
