So it really was that quiet out there during August, enabling Gordon Ayling time to write regarding frame models with only one stock keeping unit (SKU) measurement (Optician, September 1).

This is a topic close to my heart as well. Norville was one of those last British frame makers to retain a host of frames with varying eye size, DBLs and colours, but where did it get us while the snappier continental suppliers came along with one-on-one? While putting more sizes into those cheaper and hence greater volume styles has a justification, those fancy models only selling penny numbers a month are a risk too far in multi-availability.
