MauiPure matches clarity of glass

Simon Jones

Maui Jim has introduced the MauiPure sunglass lens that it claimed gave the closest clarity to glass in an ultra-light and impact-resistant lens.

The company added that MauiPure offered crisp optics, blending the optical brilliance of Superthin glass with excellent scratch and impact-resistant properties. The hybrid, injection moulded, de-centred lenses are the lightest in the company's portfolio and have an Abbe value of over 50.

Linda Glassel, Maui Jim's vice president of marketing, described MauiPure as the perfect lens for people on the go. 'This is a light, comfortable lens that you could forget you're wearing because it produces distortion-free, colourful views and packs all the protection you need for a day in the sun.'

There are three 8-base rimless styles with beta-titanium temples and adjustable Rabalon nose bridges, for lightweight comfort. Olowalu (above) is the smallest style with a rectangular lens, Mala (below) has a slightly curved rectangular lens designed for average face sizes, while Nakalele is a rimless aviator in a larger style. Colour options are black, rootbeer & copper and translucent grey, with lens choices in Neutral Grey, for high levels of light reduction, HLC Bronze, for enhanced contrast in variable conditions, and Maui HT, giving high transmission when most lenses would be too dark.
