Mike Hale: Devil in the detail

Parsing the latest public perceptions research carried out annually by the General Optical Council (GOC) is something of a tradition at this time of year for Optician’s editorial team. This week saw the GOC justifiably proud of headline figures that show a high level of satisfaction among the public for eye care professionals and services.  

Optician will be re-visiting the data in more depth next week, but I would like to share a couple of early impressions here. Notably, optical practices have overtaken GP surgeries as the most popular first-port-of-call for people with an eye problem by a 36% to 33% margin among respondents.
