The first edition of Optician each year has always made interesting reading. It usually contains the thoughts of the ‘great and the good’ who are supposedly guiding the future of our profession. 2016 was no exception. I would like to reflect on two of those contributions, one from the CEO of the Optical Confederation and the other from the LOCSU chairman.
In their defence both recognise that, despite their apparent efforts in the past, there is much that needs to be done in the future. We have been told over recent years of the great strides that have been made in raising awareness of the role of optometry in modern health care.
