I attended a meeting the other day where the topic of internet spectacle sales came up. The chair of the meeting, who was not an optometrist, felt that internet spectacles represented a massive threat to the future of optometry practices. His initial comments were very revealing, but it was the almost blank response from the audience that was far more so. They didn't think it was really a problem at all.

His initial comments were very revealing, but it was the almost blank response from the audience that was far more so. They didn't think it was really a problem at all.

The chair was clearly flummoxed by this rather laid-back reaction. He went on to point out the change in buying music in this country and how direct downloading from the internet is now the norm. Such a far-sighted common sense observation appeared to be over the heads of some at the meeting.
