I note with interest the comments flying around about Mr Murray Wells and his continuing empire building. More particularly, the side debate that rages on as to whether optometrists should give patients who wish to shop elsewhere their PD measurements, (or, as my dispensing optician pointed out, their OC measurement, for it may not be the same of course!)

I note with interest the comments flying around about Mr Murray Wells and his continuing empire building. More particularly, the side debate that rages on as to whether optometrists should give patients who wish to shop elsewhere their PD measurements, (or, as my dispensing optician pointed out, their OC measurement, for it may not be the same of course!)

The problem that seems to exist here may be wrapped up in my use of the word 'patient', because let's face it a person buying a commercial product is not a patient, they are a customer. At least that is what the optical retailers have been saying for years now. Indeed this publication has, over the years, printed many an article telling us that these people are not patients but are in fact customers.
