We are in election season. There is much campaigning on how wonderful the NHS is under the old government and how brilliant it will be under the new one. But you and I both know that when it comes to NHS sight tests this is simply just not true. We all know that we now work under the shadow of severely restricted access to NHS sight tests. We have now had it confirmed that, basically, unless a person has symptoms that could relate to the need for a corrective appliance, we should never embark on an NHS sight test. To do so would be to run the risk of having the fee paid to us reclaimed at a later date by some bureaucrat. We should now stop looking for those who may have glaucoma because early glaucoma will be asymptomatic.
